Futurama Issue 56 review By Marcmann comics

Alot of people have known me over the years for being a Marvel Comic and Dc Universe fan. What alot of people also don’t know Is that Im a Matt Groening nerd as well (Simpsons, Futurama). Bongo comics has never  failed to disappoint me, and neither has the Futurama series. Issue 56 definitely takes a new turn and direction with the storylines and humor.

The Planet Express crew Is on a brand new mission to earth when all of a sudden Fry Is tempted to hit the wrong button on the ship. Instead of hitting the hailing frequency button to alert planet earth, he accidently hits the anti-asteroid missile launcher, blowing up the planet earth. A month later at the intergalactic court of crimes, Fry Is being charged of destroying a restuarant, Earthies. Fry Is being sued and In order to be free of charges, the crew will have to work off the debt by enduring a hell driven plot working In their restaurant.

Fry Is then appointed manager of the restaurant while Leela and Bender are under Fry’s control. The orders for this restaurant are ridiculous as one of the orders was over a Thousand hamburgers at once and they had to be delivered to different parts of earth. Their leader was a evil clown who ran the corporation. Bender runs over millions of dollars In Internet and credit card tabs using his programmed wi-fi, and they had just about enough of Fry’s bossy and controlling ways. They then go on strike and say they will quit If not given the proper respect. Meanwhile, a local restaurant, The Hot Dog Shack, were their rivals. Claims that Fry really didnt blow up the restaurant and that It was a sick joke just to make humans work off debt.

Learning their lesson, the business becomes shut down and back to Planet Express they go. Fry owes debt for the missile he fired from Planet Express and pays It off by cooking up everyones breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the rest of the year. This Is definitely a good read for fans of Simpsons, Futurama, and anyone with a sense of humor. The artwork Is great, the storyline entices the reader to want more, and overall Matt Groening does a fantastic job with the series. I am definitely a fan of the comic book and the tv series as well. Check out issue 57 next month……
